ILLumeci was born on a dreary snow-filled Sunday afternoon approximately 300 kilometres from Montreal Canada; but were it not for a chance encounter aboard a train, this Immaculate Conception might not have taken place.
Ana G. was on the back end of a rigorous road trip that saw her audition for 9 different music producers, in the ever expanding Toronto market; each generating the same result: her angelic tone won her a spot in the group. However, her desire to “illuminate” the populace from the female perspective, which they call “coming from the left”, forced her to leave Toronto still searching for the light.
As improbable as a cheesy Hollywood script, Gloria M., a gifted and powerful songstress with roots in the church, was on that same train and, as it turns out, also in search of the “light”.
The connection was instant, both girls citing relationship problems as the fuel for their artistic fire along with a therapeutic philosophy to song writing. As the train marched on it became evident that they lived a parallel existence; still hung up on their old flames and both determined to share their stories through song. They wrote the smash hit “Still in Love” on that Sunday afternoon and they have not looked back since.
With the light now shining bright on ILLumeci, they took their idea to a local producer who had been making noise in recent months by the name of Lucas Teague. He had been developing a group formerly known as NL, comprised of Amanda a.k.a. “AA” or “Double A” & Stephanie “ray ray” who un-wittingly were the perfect compliment to “Still in Love” and ultimately to ILLumeci.
Laced with hard edge beats and an “ultra femme” lyrical content, “from the left”, this foursome quickly became known in industry circles as “The First Ladies of Strictly Independent”.
If you are ready to delve into the female psyche and go where no girl group has gone before, take your blinders off and let ILLumeci lead the way.
